William Dowell

Cello teacher

William Dowell is a North Carolina-based cellist, conductor, and educator. An international performer, he has given recitals in both North and South America. He has conducted performances with the Carthage Philharmonic and UNC Greensboro’s Sinfonia. An avid chamber musician, he has performed with the Carthage President’s String Quartet and the JAW Trio. As a soloist, William has toured with the Carthage Wind Orchestra, performing Martin Ellerby’s Via Crucis in Phoenix, Arizona. William has served as the principal cellist in the Carthage Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed in the Kenosha Opera Festival’s production of La fille du régiment. William has also served as a rehearsal assistant for the Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra and as a chamber coach for Carthage Young Artists Chamber Music Program. William recently completed a Masters of Music in Cello Performance and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Conducting at University of North Carolina Greensboro. William’s cello teachers include Peter Thomas and Dr. Alexander Ezerman and his conducting teachers include Dr. E. Edward Kawakami and Dr. Jungho Kim.
