Rhiannon Dewey

Rhiannon Dewey – Saxophone

​Rhiannon Dewey is a saxophone player from Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to participating for five straight semesters’ in the UNCW Honor’s recital as both a soloist and member of a quartet, she performed actively in the Wilmington area with the UNCW Big Band and various other combos and smaller groups. As a member of these ensembles, she has played with renowned guest artists such as Tom Garling, Barry Greene, and Rex Richardson among others.

Throughout her high school band career, she played with the All-District and All-State Honor Band. She was a member of her marching band’s leadership team, and served as Drum Major, leading the band to a Bands of America Final in Dayton, Ohio.
Originally a classically trained saxophonist, Rhiannon switched her focus to jazz after her sophomore year in undergrad and was awarded the Cape Fear Jazz Society Scholarship.

In addition to performing, Rhiannon has worked on various composing, film-scoring, and recording projects in collaboration with UNCW film students. Working both on short films and full-length features, she writes using electronic, post-rock, jazz, and classically-influenced approaches.
